Who processes your data

The controller is the publisher of the service:

For any question, or to exercise your rights:

Data processed

• Account: the name you give, email address, password kept in encrypted form, or your Google sign-in identifier.
• Reading: reading marker, favourites and surahs read.
• Conversations: your questions, the answers received, and the names and folders you create.
• Subscription: current plan, customer identifier at the payment company, status and end date of the subscription. No card data is received or kept by Tefsir Quran.
• Usage: the number of questions asked during the current cycle, to apply your plan's limit.
• Technical: cookies needed to stay signed in, and security logs.

Why, and on what basis

• Providing the service, your account and your conversations: performance of the contract.
• Handling the subscription, payment and invoicing: performance of the contract and accounting obligations.
• Sending a password reset link: performance of the contract.
• Keeping the service secure and preventing abuse: legitimate interest.
• Meeting our legal obligations: legal obligation.

The assistant and your questions

To produce an answer, your question and the Quran passages selected are sent to a technical artificial intelligence company, which processes them on our behalf and on our instructions.

Your questions are neither sold nor used to send you advertising.

Who receives your data

Apart from you, only the companies needed to run the service are involved:

• the host of the site;
• the payment company, for the subscription;
• the technical artificial intelligence company, to produce answers;
• the email delivery service, for messages about your account;
• Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.

Some of them may process data outside the European Union. Such transfers are covered by the safeguards set out in the General Data Protection Regulation, in particular an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

For how long

• Account, reading, conversations and usage counters: for as long as your account exists.
• A conversation you delete: it leaves your space immediately; permanent erasure can be requested at any time.
• Password reset link: one hour.
• Sign-in session: thirty days.
• Accounting records for subscriptions: ten years, as the law requires.
• Technical logs: a limited period, needed to keep the service secure.

Cookies and local storage

The site only sets the cookies needed to work: staying signed in and protecting forms. Your reading preferences are saved in your browser, on your device.

No advertising cookie and no third-party audience measurement is used, so no consent is required.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object and to data portability, as well as the right to leave instructions about your data after your death.

Write to the address given above: you receive an answer within one month.

You may also complain to the French data protection authority (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, or to the authority of your country of residence.

Security

Passwords are kept in encrypted form, exchanges are protected by a secure connection, and access to data is limited to the people who need it.

Minors

The service is for everyone. Under the age of 15, creating an account requires the agreement of a parent or legal guardian.
