Purpose and acceptance

Tefsir Quran is a service for reading and understanding the Quran: the Arabic text, translations, recitation, sourced explanations, and an assistant that answers your questions from those texts.

These terms govern the use of the service and, for the Premium subscription, its sale. They apply as soon as you use the site; by creating an account or subscribing, you accept them.

The publisher of the service is identified in the legal notice.

Your account

An account saves your reading progress, favourites and conversations, and gives access to the assistant. You provide accurate information and keep your password confidential.

An account is personal. Under the age of 15, create it with the agreement of a parent or legal guardian.

You may ask for your account to be deleted at any time, at the address given at the end of this document.

The text, the explanations and the assistant

The Arabic text, translations, transliteration and recitations come from Quran Foundation and their authors, who remain the holders of their rights. Each translation is credited to its author.

Explanations and assistant answers are aids to understanding. They rely on the texts made available and cite their sources.

The assistant issues no religious ruling and does not replace a scholar. For a question of practice or jurisprudence, ask a qualified person.

An answer may contain an error or an imprecision: always go back to the text and the sources cited.

Use of the service

When using Tefsir Quran, you undertake:

• not to get around usage limits or reach the service by automated means;
• not to extract the content of the site in bulk;
• not to use the assistant to produce unlawful, hateful or misleading content;
• not to disturb the running of the service or the security of accounts.

In case of abuse, access may be suspended, with notice where that is possible.

Plans and questions included

The free plan gives 30 assistant questions per cycle. Premium gives 300 per cycle, for €4.99 including tax per month.

Questions are counted per cycle. On the free plan a cycle lasts one month from your first question to the assistant; on Premium it follows the period your subscription is billed for. They renew at the end of the cycle, and unused questions do not carry over.

These amounts may change. Any reduction of what Premium includes is announced at least 30 days in advance and gives you the right to cancel.

Subscription, price and payment

The Premium subscription is monthly and has no minimum term. It renews automatically each month, on the anniversary of the subscription, until cancelled.

Payment is made by card, at subscription and then at each renewal. It is handled by Stripe: Tefsir Quran neither receives nor keeps your card number.

Prices are shown in euros, including tax. A price change is announced at least 30 days in advance, takes effect only at the next renewal, and you may cancel before then.

If a payment fails, access to Premium ends at the close of the current period.

Cancellation

You cancel whenever you like from “My account”, with the “Manage my subscription” button: the whole thing is done online, in a few clicks.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. Premium stays active until then, and the account returns to the free plan. The current period is not refunded, apart from the right of withdrawal.

We may cancel the subscription in case of a serious breach of these terms; the unused part is then refunded to you.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer, you have 14 days from the subscription to withdraw, without having to give a reason.

By ticking the box at payment, you ask for Premium to start immediately. If you then withdraw, you are refunded the part matching the unused period.

To exercise this right, write to the address given at the end of this document. The refund is made within 14 days of receiving your request, by the same means of payment.

Availability and guarantee

The service is provided with the care expected of a professional. Interruptions for maintenance or incidents remain possible; they are kept as short and as rare as possible.

The legal guarantee of conformity applies to the service supplied: in case of a defect, you may ask for it to be brought into conformity and, failing that, for a price reduction or the end of the contract.

Liability

Tefsir Quran cannot be held liable for decisions taken on the basis of an explanation or an assistant answer, nor for the consequences of a use contrary to these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law.

Intellectual property

The presentation of the service, its own texts and its code are protected. You may quote an extract with the source and a link to the original page; systematic reuse requires permission.

You remain the owner of your questions. You grant the permission strictly needed to process them in order to answer you and keep your conversations.

Personal data

Data processing is described in the privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The version that applies to your subscription is the one accepted when you subscribed; an important change is announced before it takes effect.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving a consumer of the protection given by the law of their country of residence in the European Union.

If something goes wrong, contact us first: most situations are settled that way.

If you are a consumer, you may use a consumer mediator free of charge.
